Our History

On the engagement of Princess Elizabeth to Prince Philip, Lady Dos Santos mounted a fund-raising programme to buy the Princess a wedding gift from the people of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Princess, however, requested that the money raised should be used to build a Home for the handicapped children, mainly because of the Polio epidemic, hence our Center’s name.

Governing Body

The Centre is run by an Association who comprises of a council of fifteen persons appointed in an honorary capacity. From its members the council appoints a management committee to oversee operations.

Services Offered

We cater for approximately one hundred and twenty physically challenged ranging from ages four to seventeen years, and houses sixty of these children.

We provide meals, nursery and primary education, medication, physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, dental service, pediatric, orthopedic and surgical care.

These services are also extended to children from other Caribbean islands, and is made possible by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago and our generous doners and supporters
